1972-1996, Laying Period Academic Platform. In this period, IAIN Sunan Kalijaga led successively by Colonel Drs. H. Bakri Confessor (1972-1976), Prof. H. Zaini Dahlan, MA (during the second term of office: 1976-1980 and 1980-1983), Prof. Dr HA Mu'in Umar (1983-1992) and Prof. Dr Simuh (1992-1996). In periodeini, development of physical infrastructure campus include building construction Faculty of Da'wa, Library, Graduate Program, and Rector continued. The education system used in this period began to shift from the 'liberal system' to 'the system of guided' to introduce 'pseudo semester system' and finally 'pure semester credit system'. In terms of curriculum, IAIN Sunan Kalijaga has undergone a radical adjustment to the needs of the Indonesian nation. The number of faculty increased to five (5); namely the Faculty of Adab, Propagation, Shariah, MT and Ushuluddin. IAIN Sunan Kalijaga Graduate Program opened in this period, precisely in the academic year 1983/1984. Graduate Program has been initiated with the academic activities in the form of short courses on Islamic studies with the name of the Post Graduate Course (PGC) and Full Degree Study (PPS) held without awarding a Master level degree. To that end, the opening of the graduate program in the decade of the eighties has been confirmed IAIN Sunan Kalijaga function as a high-level academic institutions in the top-level undergraduate program.
